Random September Photos
With the crazy amounts of sewing I did this summer, I am now playing catch-up around my house. So, the tumbleweed that blew threw last winter left their lovely gift of seed, and I'm attempting to deal with that. This is a pic of me, with TWO tumbleweeds in my wheelbarrow. I'm 5'5", for reference sakes. I believe the bodies of the immigrants that brought those weeds over should be dug up, and post-humously tortured. Please get on that for me. Thank you.
When you need something out of the top shelf of the coat closet, and you are only 3 feet tall, your best course of action is to put a stool on a chair, and climb on top of that.
Fishing in the former carrot patch. I love to watch my kids through the window, while they play outside in the autumn evenings... as a side note, the weeds behind them are gone now.
Check out our mean doggie, momma!! Eat her, Callie, Eat her!!
So, one day, the kids and the dog together were driving me crazy. So, I put the dog outside, and set the kids down with crayons and paper to color for a while. This turned into a "mom is so mean" sobfest, where they proceeded to write letters to Callie about how much they loved her, and were sorry that their mommy was so mean to her, while she sat on the other side of the backdoor, whining to be let back in. HA!
For Kiki's birthday, Auntie Ten and The Adventurer sent them Melissa&Doug Paint-Your-Own Piggy Bank craft projects to do together. Which really was a genius idea guys, thank you for that. They had a BLAST. They are now called the "Penny Pigs". Kiki's is named "Graceful" and Debris' is "Wonder-Man"
In an attempt to break world canning records, and also keep up on my laundry and housecleaning in some sort of done status, and not to mention the garden, I've been making a great effort to get up WAY earlier. It is working, thankfully. That being said, I'm seeing a lot more of these--the sunrise!!--out my kitchen window.

AW! I love all the pictures! The one of them shoveling is so cute...i love playing with them because then and only then, is it okay for me to sit on my butt in dirt and talk about random craziness. I was thinking about the "butterfly" that B caught while I was there in May. She was so distraught with Kiki and I when we told her it was a Moth, so we had to pretend it was a butterfly=)!!! ReplyDeleteI'm so glad they like the pigs. I love their hair cuts. Love you guys! Auntie Ten
ReplyDeleteBreaking canning records, eh? Sounds way too productive for my liking : )
ReplyDeleteWhat did you get canned this year?
ReplyDeleteI'm not exactly breaking canning records... just a couple batches of tomatoes, and some plum jam so far - but then it's a little difficult to reach over an 8month belly to can. One of these days I'll get to the green tomato salsa.
Haha, that was supposed to be a little tongue-in-cheek humor, (I think that's the term for it!!) I am trying to get a lot done, we enjoy it so much in the winter time it's worth the crazyness to get as much done as possible. Next year I'm hoping to start earlier in the summer and not pack so much of it into a few weeks. I've done Pears, Peaches, jams, 65 pounds of tomatoes in different ways, applesauce and pickled carrots and beans. I still want to do some apple pie filling, and more pears, the fam eats those like crazy. Maybe I'll have to do a post when I'm done. :-)
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to get up earlier too, it does seem to help with the stress level the rest of the day. Looks like you guys are having a productive autumn!
ReplyDeleteHee, why are you so mean?!
ReplyDeleteThose tumbleweeds are crazy and your girls are adorable.
