Weird Art Wednesday

Just a collection of pictures of the odd creations I find about my house on a regular basis...

Debris likes everything in line and very orderly... almost to an OCD extent...

Further proof of the slight OCD of Debris... this is her going to the bathroom process. Run into the bathroom dancing. Continue dancing while opening BOTH drawers. Continue dancing while carefully lining up the under-the-sink cupboard door with the bathroom door, until PERFECTLY lined up. Pull down pants and take flying leap onto toilet, yelling the whole while that nobody better mess up "my gate." Howl with horror if someone should mess up the gate with the slightest of unnoticeable bumps. Leap off the toilet and fix said gate, at soonest possible moment. When done, walk through gate backwards, fixing it to perfection behind her, every step of the way. Holler again that "Nobody better mess up my gate!!!!" (As you can imagine, I get great glee out of coming along and minutely adjusting the gate randomly, and walking away. It's quite entertaining, this small torture of my children.)

Scrambled Crayons?

Alphabet Pasta?I have no idea who did this...A fine vintage, to be sure...I've been noticing things like this a lot... food eaten into shapes, and randomly left around the house in spots with coordinating shapes... My first guess would be Debris, but I'm not entirely sure.Kiki actually put together this neighborhood. Right after I had cleaned the house to (near) perfection. She was so proud, I couldn't find it in me to tell her to put it away, until the next morning. And here are the crazies themselves. :-)

I took this pic of Saddle Rock yesterday while sledding. I'm quite in love with Wenatchee in the Winter, I must say. It is SO BEAUTIFUL here! I'm going to have to do a sledding post soon... so many fun pics!

I read this in my morning devotions, it seemed particularly fitting for New Year's Eve...

For He who is mighty has done great things for me, and Holy is His name. And His mercy is on those who fear Him, from generation to generation. Luke 1:49,50

I love how this referenced the "great things" the Lord has done (for me!) in the past, as well as his promises for us in the future, and our children. He could even now be waiting for just one person to come to Him, before He takes us home. Even so, quickly come, Lord Jesus!

All sorts of art...

A few weeks ago Aunt A asked for drawings from Kiki and Debris for a school project. I wasn't going to share them with the world, because folks can most likely only handle so much of the genius we hand out around here. I mean, I have to stop somewhere with the kid going-on's, don't I? I had a very firm talk with myself. Apparently I promptly ignored it, because here I am, typing it out. The thing is, I literally handed them the supplies, and walked away. So what you see is from their hilarious, mad little minds. I love it.



So, after drawing the pictures, I asked them what they were. Then I wrote down exactly what they said. The titles are as follows.

Now, while drawing is not my medium, I like to think that everyone has a little artist within. So, here are the projects I've been working on lately....

A 6 month late wedding gift for these guys...

Here are my helpers, who screwed up helped me with the assembly of the squares repeatedly, resulting in approx. 8 hours of seam ripping time combined.

But, all in all, I am pleased with how it turned out. I especially love the owl I did as the "tag". I actually drew it out myself, so I'm really looking forward to putting it in other projects... I definitely saved my drawings!

And, here is the apron I made for Debris for her B-day...

It's made completely from fabric scraps... I have been reusing old jeans for all my apron projects, and I am having SO much fun with it. I've never been happy with the denim from fabric stores, it never feels or looks like I think denim should. So, I'm using old jeans, and working the seams and such into my design.

And, finally, this is the one that I made for Lily of the Valley for a contest I had a few weeks ago... We had a lot of fun putting it together, Kiki helped me with fabric combinations and such...she's getting big enough to have valid opinions on things like this, and I'm having so much fun listening to her, and taking her "advice"! We decided that the only thing better than a ruffle on an apron was a double ruffle, and I'm particularly pleased with how the ties turned out. There's nothing more annoying than not having enough tie, IMHO, so I made sure that wouldn't happen. :-)

Weird Art Wednesday

I haven't done a post like this in a while, so here goes! Just a smattering of random works that I find around my house on a regular basis.



I love the look on the dolls face in this one. Debris was completely distraught when I disassembled this.Note the relish tucked in there.So, ever since I got this kitchen sideboard, Debris thinks that everything in the fridge should be on it. I keep on going into the kitchen to find her climbing the fridge shelves and putting everything on the sideboard. As always, she becomes quite upset when I dismantle her works.

Walked into our bedroom to find this the other night... So cute!
This cowgirl was having very interesting conversations with Debris... About spiders and bats. (Debris was not wearing any clothes during this conversation, so I did not include her in this pic.)

So the other day, the girls announced they were making "dilla's" (quesadilla's). I walked into the kitchen to find this. Technically that's a cheesy filling. I don't think it would melt though.

What do you get when you combine a salad spinner lid, buttons, and half eaten cheese sticks? Weird Art, that's what!!

So, I'm standing having a conversation, then I go to take a step, and I noticed I was rattling. Apparently, I became Weird Art!

Weird Art Wednesday

Everyone is always doing a Wednesday theme thing on their blogs. Wordless Wednesday is one I've seen, among others. Wordless Wednesday will never be for me. I can't keep my mouth shut ever. So, since we're all about being not completely normal here, I thought I'd share a few items of Weird Art that I've found around my house in the last couple weeks. I hope it speaks to you.

And, cuz it's my blog, and I LOVE windmills, I thought I'd include this pic. It always makes me smile. Did I mention that I LOVE windmills? I need a bison ranch in South Dakota so I can have a working windmill. I love windmills.

And, since one should always give credit where credit is due, I thought I should also include a picture of my little angst ridden artists, to which the above works can be credited.
