So, after drawing the pictures, I asked them what they were. Then I wrote down exactly what they said. The titles are as follows.
Here are Kiki's.
"A Cyclops holding an Umbrella"
"A Man Going through a Maze"Here are Debris':
"Airplanes, Helicopters and Rockets that Crash-ted"
"A Man Behind A Fence"
The originals are on the way Auntie A!
Now, while drawing is not my medium, I like to think that everyone has a little artist within. So, here are the projects I've been working on lately....
A 6 month late wedding gift for these guys...
Here are my helpers, who screwed up helped me with the assembly of the squares repeatedly, resulting in approx. 8 hours of seam ripping time combined.
But, all in all, I am pleased with how it turned out. I especially love the owl I did as the "tag". I actually drew it out myself, so I'm really looking forward to putting it in other projects... I definitely saved my drawings!
And, here is the apron I made for Debris for her B-day...
It's made completely from fabric scraps... I have been reusing old jeans for all my apron projects, and I am having SO much fun with it. I've never been happy with the denim from fabric stores, it never feels or looks like I think denim should. So, I'm using old jeans, and working the seams and such into my design.
And, finally, this is the one that I made for Lily of the Valley for a contest I had a few weeks ago... We had a lot of fun putting it together, Kiki helped me with fabric combinations and such...she's getting big enough to have valid opinions on things like this, and I'm having so much fun listening to her, and taking her "advice"! We decided that the only thing better than a ruffle on an apron was a double ruffle, and I'm particularly pleased with how the ties turned out. There's nothing more annoying than not having enough tie, IMHO, so I made sure that wouldn't happen. :-)
Isn't it interesting that the drawings of people done by 2 and 3 year olds are amazingly similar? I could show you art from G, A, and S...hmmm, I never noticed that acronym before...and their 'people' look just like Kiki and Debris's people. Love their titles!
ReplyDeleteAnd your aprons are really fun; I also agree with you on 'store bought' denim...it has the feel of a cheaper cloth.
HAHAHAHAHA!!! That's hilarious! (the acronym)
ReplyDeleteThat's just Freudian, don't you think? hehe
ReplyDeleteI can remember one story you told me regarding G.A.S. and covers...
If I remember correctly, Gramma G. has the cutest framed pictures drawn by some of the GAS themselves hanging in her kitchen : )
ReplyDeleteThe pics are too funny. I love em! And the Apron from scraps for Debris is soo cute. Don't you just love making stuff from scraps. Looks like your fabulous at it. :) Enjoyed seeing all the projects you've completed.
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love the drawings! I can't wait to get them in the mail!! I will not only get my extra credit for class, but I will have treasures to cherish forever, from my sweet little nieces:)
ReplyDeleteYou're right Brooke..."Gramma G" has some drawings of ours framed...which was a great idea!
SO, I say the whole G.A.S thing ends here and I'm guessing G and S will be on board with that!:) haha
Mom (aka Gramma G), there's a whole section in my Child Development textbook on child drawings...and, it's amazing how children from across the world draw VERY similar pictures at the same ages, when it comes to drawing people! Interesting how our brains develop!
I am very, very glad that I kept so many drawings of yours (GAS), and I will turn over each of your very thick files to all three of you as soon as I tire of looking at them.
ReplyDeleteNaomi, you will be so thankful that you are keeping a journal (blog) of K and B's younger years...it will be, is, priceless.
I promise, kiddies, no more GAS comments...goodness, if it took me 20 years to notice it, I am sure that I can forget it as readily :-)
Hm. I kind of like the GAS. I bet A and S's spouses will think the GAS is hilarious as well. Actually, my spouse thinks the GAS is hilarious, so I think it might be sticking around. Ha!
ReplyDeleteHEHEHEHEHE!
I'm kicking myself for not doing this blog business sooner, like 4 years ago. I thought I was too busy. I still am too busy. Hee hee! I am currently not doing laundry in order to post this comment. Oh well.
I agree with my sister on this one, I think we will be seceding from GAS...so now you are only left with a lonely G =)
ReplyDeleteO.G. in fact.
ReplyDeleteSo that you can't have the last word, FC, your $2 is in the mail. XO
ReplyDeleteP.S. O.G. ???
