A week with the family

Apparently I took a blogging break. I didn't really mean to, my days just got away from me for a few weeks now. The first week of the year we spent with my family down in Portland. It was so wonderful to be with everybody, and just hang out. Normally when we get together we're only together for a weekend, and we walk away feeling like there just isn't enough time... so, last summer we started planning to all get together for a week so our time wouldn't be so rushed. Schedules were compared and adjusted, and we all just met up with the sole purpose of sitting around and doing nothing together. It was great. We literally actually didn't do much, just talked and drank a lot of coffee. We all had times where we split off and did our own things, but that was okay, because hey, we had a whole week together.

Here are a few of my favorite snapshots from the week. I ended up narrowing it down by a lot, just because they all showed the same thing basically--us just having a really good, fun time together.

The guys, goofing around...
Vinnie...Girls, being goofy.
Practicing her punching form on her dad/coach... He's gonna have to stop being their punching bag for their practice pretty soon, these girls can hit hard!!!
Two of my goofy stisters and the big baby dog... he's still a puppy (1.5 years old) but so well behaved and he definitely needs his snuggle time. :-)
Debris (who currently has an obsession with her gray fingerless gloves) deigned it her job for the week to feed Miss Jewel. It was quite cute.
One trip down to Portland, where I got this picture, which will be added to my Pacific Northwest Wall Prints Folder. :-)
Sweet Miss Jewel. I just adore this sweet child.
My momma, and Miss Jewel...
Once day we went to a park and took family pictures. This one ended up being my favorite of our family.
And, all of us together.
The whole week was a ton of fun. Special thanks to my Dad and Mom, who housed and fed us all for the week, and to The Adventurer and Auntie Ten, who helped out too. I swear my dad ran to the grocery store every day, twice a day the entire time we were there. It was muchly appreciated.
If I haven't visited your blog yet recently, I will soon. :-)

  6. Can't believe how much Jewel looks like your mom and your brother, and yet...I can also see her mama in her. I bet your girls consider her their very own living doll! Sitting around doing nothing is something we do very well with family (and I mean that in a very good way). Glad you got to do that together : )

  7. Thanks for the recap of our week. Dad is still thanking the Lord for our time together. K and B would be reassured in their thinking of us as "old" if they knew how much we reminisced about the week! Grammy
