Every year my family sets aside the first week in January to come back to my parents house for a week. And, it really is the BEST TIME EVER. We just get together with the sole purpose of relaxing, hanging out and eating. And, with how crazy life is and how far apart we're spread, we've gotten to the point where we all just look forward to this week of togetherness so much.
The first weekend of our week was at the beach with our extended family on my mom's side. We haven't done that for a long time, so that was a treat too--we ended up in a really cool (slightly creepy cool) house huge enough for going-on-30 of us, an ocean view, and a whole lotta amazing food and fun. These pictures are all my favorite snapshots from the beach.
| My Daddy, and my oldest baby. |
| My goofy husband, and my goofy sister. |
| A whole lotta this happened too, as will happen when you have a bunch of boys anywhere. :-) |
| Keira has wanted to fly a kite forever. She finally got her chance. |
| The kelp was perfect for bullwhip practice, and jump roping also. |
| All of us. I won't go into details on the tortuous process that was getting this picture. |
| I love this picture. My bro and his sweet family. |
| My grandparents. Responsible for the mass of humanity that converged on the beach this weekend. |
| Kelp Close-up |
| My sister and her husband. Candid's are my very favorite. (A lot of these pictures are theirs. It's also become tradition to sit down at the table with camera cards and laptops before we all leave, and trade pictures from our time together.) |
| Oceanside, OR. My favorite Oregon beach. |
| Every part of this picture cracks me up. Except that I missed Garrett kissing Bennie's head. As previously stated, we're all goofy. Some slightly more than others. |
| Me and my sweetie. I love this man. |
| Some of these pictures are theirs too. This picture is why I love having just a leetle bit of a zoom lens. Being able to catch happy and content in action is a lovely thing. |
| This beach has a tunnel that goes through a huge cliff over to the beach on the other side. This is one of the venting holes in that tunnel. |
| My eldest mountain goat child. |
| My youngest (for now) mountain goat child. |
| My sweet stister. |
| The beach, sunset. I don't understand how people go to the North America side of the Atlantic Ocean. What good is a beach without a sunset? |
| My guy, his guitar, the ocean, and a railing to kick your feet up on. One of those moments where you know life is just perfect. |
Have a great weekend!
Good times! Love you lots! - Nina
ReplyDeleteI have to say, that I used to agree with you on the whole sunset/beach thing. HOWEVER, that was before I lived in Idaho. I now prefer sunrises. That's mostly because of the house that I lived in. And obviously, I wasn't watching the sun rise over the ocean, it was only the Snake River...but I can imagine the ocean is even more glorious : )
ReplyDeletei love seeing your family together! beautiful pictures!
ReplyDeleteIt must be so wonderful to have a large family like that! Such sweet, sweet memories, I'm sure. That sunset picture is absolutely STUNNING!!!
ReplyDeleteThe hassle was worth it - that's a great group photo.
ReplyDelete**swoon** I heart Oregon beaches! Cannon beach being our favorite "local" place to play... can't say as I have ever been on Oceanside?? must look it up... =) that is where I am in my happy place... sounds like a crazy but lovely week!! how'd you fair with the snow and ice this week? or do you know yet? ha ha ha....
ReplyDeleteOh... ditto on the sunset beach thing... only.. they probably wonder how we can have beaches without sunrises?? I prefer sunset only b/c I "DON'T do Mornings!!" ;)
ReplyDeleteWell I DO like to swim when I go to the beach so there is THAT! Are you going to do pregnancy updates? I want that. And previous birth stories, I want that too. ;) Your vacay looks awesome and I love the love!
