A Midsummer Night's Fun

One cool place we've discovered since living in Wenatchee is Caffe' Mela. Their coffee is nothing short of glorious. And, their coffee shop has live music on the weekends. But, during the summer the live music is offered, with the help of the city, in Centennial Park. So, we've enjoyed taking the girls a few times on Friday night, and enjoying the summer evenings. I remembered to take the camera this time, so I could share it on my blog.

It truly is DOWNTOWN, as you can tell from this very poorly taken picture. It is also very family friendly... the musicians apparently have to sign papers saying they won't use bad language, and they have kids activities, if wanted. From my observation, most kids are running amok around the park, rolling down the hills and dancing and screaming like maniacs, so activities are not neccesary. But, the town is really good about stuff like that, they have activities at a lot of parks on week days for kids too, like painting, beadwork, etc., just set up at picnic tables. Anyway, so everyone just brings blankets and sweatshirts for the family, the parents enjoy the spectacular coffee and great music, and kids make friends and play all evening.
Ravinwolf...
Kiki, being a goofball...
Debris, climbing a tree...
Forgive me, I couldn't just pick one picture...
There's nothing like climbing a tree.
As soon as Kiki found out that a girl was going to play and sing, she went right on down and parked herself in front of the stage, see below. Debris followed. Kiki is planning on playing a guitar and singing on a stage someday, she informed me.
They danced till they fell...Carrie Clark and the Lonesome Lovers...
The concerts are free, which is really nice, and good musicians, which is awesome!
It's fun to sit outside while darkness falls...
After a while, the girls noticed a random guy playing with some sort of twirly whirly light toy thingy behind us. So, bless their cute selves, they went and sat down in front of him and clapped and cheered and told him he was doing a great job, and generally thought he was the awesomest thing ever... it was pretty funny.
It's the perfect way to spend a Friday night in the summer.

  1. How fun! I'm sure that boy and his twirly light were super-appreciative of their enthusiastic audience : ) It's fun to live in a small town that has all those activities!

  6. Total Americana!! What a great time and recap. Made me want to go to "Concerts in the Park" out at Woodward. But I think tonight was the last night. That'd be about right for me. I finally get geared up when it's all over!

Great tree climbing skills there. I highly believe in them.

    Hi GIRLS!!!
