Happy Thanksgiving!

Brooke did this idea over on her blog, and it was so cute, I had to steal it for my kids. I did not help them make these...I've been working very hard at giving them a job, and standing back to watch them do it. It appears they are growing up, and should be able to handle these things without me. So, without further ado, here is my children's thankful list for 2009.

Kiki:

1. I'm thankful that we're going to Aunt G's house for Thanksgiving dinner! Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday!
2. I'm thankful that it's going to snow soon.
3. I'm thankful that Daddy goes to work every day and makes money so we can have a house to live in, and food to eat.
4. I'm thankful that it's going to be Thanksgiving... Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday!
5. I'm thankful we have a dog.
6. I'm thankful that it's going to be Debris' birthday soon.
7. I'm thankful for our Going Losting trips.
8. I'm thankful that I learned my squid kick in swimming lessons.
9. I'm thankful that the weather's always good, and it doesn't rain much here.
10. I'm thankful that you (mom) always cook good food for us. (awwww....!)

Debris:

1. I'm thankful that we live close enough to go to Walla Walla to see our Gamma Gamma's and Papa Papa's.
2. I'm thankful that we got to go to Auntie M and Auntie Dhasa's house.
3. I'm thankful that I can draw 4's now.
4. I'm thankful for swimming lessons.
5. I'm thankful that we can have school, and I'm learning to write.
6. I'm thankful for TOP foods, and for Costco.
7. I'm thankful for pumpkins!!!
8. I'm thankful for my Spider Blankie.
9. I'm thankful for Chocolate Milk.
10. I'm thankful for food. I love to eat food.

We have so many things to be thankful for. A few things that I am thankful for...

Jesus Christ... His mercies are new every morning... it's a comfort to be able to hand everything to Him.

My husband... My perfect match. God knew what He was doing when He put us together. I'm also feeling pretty good about the fact that he's smoking a turkey right now. Not only will the turkey be delicious, Frank will smell of smoked hickory all day, and that makes me a happy girl. Smoked hickory is a good manly smell.

My daughters... they are a delight. It's so fun to watch them grow. I love being their mom, but most of all I look forward to the day when I can also be their friend... we have so much fun together.

My family... Grandparents, Parents, Sisters and Brothers, Uncles and Aunts. And, our list of in-laws that has grown rather quickly recently. Each one adds something special to the mix.

My home, both the house itself, and the lovely valley we live in. It's a wonderful thing to LOVE where God has planted you. Makes blooming where you are planted that much easier.

And, our doggie. I would have never thought that I would be a dog person... but well, I guess I am now. Who knew? She's been good for us, and especially good for me.

And now that I've covered all the big things, I'll share with you today one of our Thanksgiving Tradition Recipes... you know, the things it wouldn't be right to go without on Thanksgiving day. It's called "White Trash" and it is delicious. It's also fun to make with kids... my kids know that when we make white trash they get unlimited tasting... they love it. Brie has taken, as of yesterday to calling it white truffles. Which is probably a little more classy, but hey. We'll fix that. :-)

White Trash
(makes a big bowl)
1 Box Golden Grahams
1 jar peanuts
1 12oz. bag raisins
1 bag chocolate chips
2 cups peanut butter
1 stick of butter
1 2pd bag of powdered sugar
Mix dry ingredients
Melt wet ingredients together, then mix well with dry ingredients.
Put in a ziploc bag in batches, and pour powdered sugar over the top. Shake and shift until coated in powdered sugar.
ENJOY!
