As always with anything, pictures never do justice, and she is just the sweetest thing. So much fun to be an aunt. I've said it before, and I will say it again... it's the very best thing. All of the love, none of the work. We already can't wait to see her again. And her parents, of course. :-)
It was a typical Pacific NW springtime weekend, with rain storms, sprinkling rain, overcast, heavy clouds, and the occasional brief but blissful sun break, dark enough so indoor pics don't turn out to well, and outdoor pics were caught between showers.
So, this is what I have to show for a weekend of carrying my camera around, ha!
Debris just loves feeding the babies--I now have pictures of her feeding both her cousins.
So fun to finally have a few cousins!
We headed to a nature reserve park thing (that's the technical name for it) after a lazy Saturday morning. It was beautiful... and again, a perfect PNW spring day. Windy, rainy, sprinkly, sunshiney, cold, warm etc., in the walk we took there. Literally started out bundled up, then took our jackets off, then put them on again, then took them off, then on, and so on, and so forth. It's safe to say that I don't much miss the rain, although I won't deny enjoying it for short bursts now. It's taken me three years to go from complete and utter dislike of it, to mild enjoyment for an hour or so though, so that's something.
So very sweet!
I think this one has to be my favorite from the whole weekend. The kids were hanging out with Poppa and Gramma, so I get to have fun sneaking around with my camera. As you can see, there were fun with photoshop moments around every corner, and I could hardly wait to get home and play with all my pictures.
I would like to know how it is that this child is wearing my jacket, and it doesn't look ridiculously huge (only somewhat huge) on her. Sigh.
And, we ended in Stevenson, WA. Pretty much one of my favorite towns in the Columbia Gorge area. (my blackberry took this pic, cool, huh?!) I'm always reminded when we do meander through the Columbia Gorge how beautiful it is. We passed a few really cool spots to take pictures, but it was raining hard when we passed through, and we were attempting to keep up with Jehu ahead of us, so no Cape Horn pics for me this time, but that's cool, it's not currently going anywhere.
Anyway, normally we're driving through it like there's a million dollars at the other end, and we never stop to take pictures. Because we don't stop unless someone has pee fish in their eyes when we're traveling. (Definition of Pee Fish. My children believe that when you have to pee really really really bad, you get pee fish in your eyes. And, pee fish eat your brain. But, Dad and Mom don't stop to go to the bathroom unless you have pee fish. So, they first of all say they have to pee. Then, they start checking each other's eyes for pee fish. And, we know we MUST stop when the wails from the back seat include the words, "I have Pee Fish in my eyes, and they're eating my brain!!! Yes, we're very normal, why do you ask?!

Well, you can't really top Pee Fish, so I guess I'm ending this post right about.....
NOW.
Oh my word I get to be the first! And don't you think I SHOULD be after all this time????! LOVED catching up even just a little on your life and travels. And that picture of the creek running through into the stand of trees made me ache, and I'm not kidding. I clicked on it to blow it up and it's SO beautiful I couldn't even take it in. I wish Hannah would paint that for me.
ReplyDeleteThe picture of Debris feeding the baby brought back memories. Bo was just a tiny crib baby when her cousin, Nichole, was reading to her in her crib. (She and Nichole share a birthday - ten years apart.) Treasure the moments. This "crib baby" and her cousin will turn 20 and 30 next week. Wahhhhhhhh!
HI GIRLS!!! You are getting SO SO SO BIG! I can't beLIEVE how much you've grown in the months I've been gone from blog hopping. Have I told you lately that you're LOVELY? (Well, of COURSE not, I've been gone!)
Gorgeous pictures! I just can't get over how beautiful it is up there. We're in the middle of the worst drought we've had since The Dust Bowl, just a smidge of that rain would be lovely. ;)
ReplyDeleteThat little niece of yours is adorable!
which niece is that? she is adorable. I love the picture that shows the back of her head with little pig tails! So your drive across the pass was good? Ha - pee fish - lol. I have the problem of not wanting to drink water, in order to not get to the 'pee fish' point. Therefore, my other half has promised to stop driving BEFORE I get to 'pee fish' so that I stay hydrated. :) what a guy. :)
ReplyDeleteOh my word. See, I have this aversion to anything creepy, crawly, scaly or crusty in or around the eyes. So hearing about Pee fish that will wiggle around and eat your brain, AAAAGGGGHHHHH! My tummy is doing flips!! Gives me goosebumps!! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful scenery in all those pics. Isn't Auntie-hood wonderful? I love it too. So glad you got to spend some time w/your family. Oh, and it is so very sad that your jacket doesn't look that big on your baby! How crazy to think someday, they'll be borrowing our clothes, and they'll fit perfectly!! :(
Your pictures are gorgeous! Such a beautiful family.
ReplyDeleteWe have a large gap in age between my kids and their cousin. I love watching my nine year old hold her "baby" cousin. He is 10 months. She likes to read to him, so fun to watch.
It makes me sick to see you pictures, and then to look out my window!!! Lol! We're burning up and blowing away down here.
ReplyDeleteThey really are great pictures though.. I shall remember the color green through your lens! :)
I LOVE rain. I just love it. Whenever the weather says it is overcast, Q. leaves me a note and tells me that he knows I'm going to have a great day! I'm so weird like that! Not seeing the sun just doesn't bother me. I LOVE it. I love your pics!
ReplyDeleteThe Pacific NW is pretty fantastic. Love the pics!
ReplyDeletePee fish! I am totally gonna use that one!
ReplyDeleteAnd we missed you!?!?! I so wish we had "met" while you were a wee bit more local! So glad you had fun here!
Oh, I'm so glad you got to meet little E, she is precious! Your jaunt in the great outdoors looks refreshing, I can almost smell the fresh air.
ReplyDeleteBWAHAHAAHAA! PEE FISH! :) LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteMy girls scream that "our bladders are gonna pop" {oh dear, little girls are so funny!}
Vancouver is one place I really, really want to visit! Now your pics are enticing me even more. :)
As always, great stuff gal!
