Moving Update!

Living in an extended stay hotel... making do with what you have.
A quick photo-journal-style entry of our moving process so far. Not a lot to say. Just exploring our new area, and figuring out what life is going to be like in this new place. And, remembering how much we love this exploring-newness part of moving.

Same goes for doing school. The girls are doing great.

Rain Boots--a moving gift to the girls from Daddy and Momma--totally appropriate for this place we're going to live.

We've done a TON of driving around, figuring out where we should live, and what makes the most sense for where Garrett is working. Right now it's looking like we'll end up in the Tacoma/Federal Way area, out towards the water. Just enough of a commute so he can detox between work and home, but not enough to make it take a horrible amount of time or get too crazy.
We usually make it a point to find a park right away in our new area, because that's the cheapest way to kill the hours of "free" time that living in a hotel brings. Dash Point Pier appears to be that park for this move. It's the perfect place for what we need this relocation process--a swing set, a play area, a covered area with tables and an electrical outlet that I can sit at and be right next to the girls while my phone charges or if I have to make phone calls and conduct business, and a great beach area that's also right next to the covered area, with a pier.
 The Laundromat. Fun. Yeah.
A Saturday Trip to Seattle--neither of the girls wanted to leave.
A family membership to this place for our two budding marine biologists.
 Mapping out their route.
Jellyfish--pretty sure this was Garrett and my favorite display. :-)

And, a Saturday evening at Redondo Beach to watch the sunset.

Through this whole process, every time I turn around and in many different ways and places I've had the verses found in Exodus 14:13-14 in front of me. I refuse to believe it's merely coincidence, and instead trust that those verses are a gift from a loving God.

"Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord which He will accomplish for you today... ...The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace."

Exodus 14: 13-14

So, we wait for the things that still need wrapping up here in Wenatchee to go according to His plan.

Listed last here, but definitely NOT least... Please also join me in prayer for these friends of ours. We're lifting them up constantly before Him... "For NOTHING refrains the Lord from saving, by many or by few." 1 Samuel 14:6

  1. As someone who has spent a fairish amount of time in hotels, I can attest you have mastered the art of the migratory lifestyle. :-) All the best with the move...I love that you see the excitement and opportunity in it, despite the daunting nature of the real work involved.

    Love,
    Anita R.

p.s. - green beans and eggs can be boiled satisfactorily in a kettle (probably not at the same time).

  2. Fun, fun!! Glad you're making the most out of your home search! I know the Lord has the perfect place picked out and will show it to you at just the right time. It's gotta be exciting checking out a new place. All the fun things you get to go and explore. Praying all of this be a pleasant experience for your sweet family....or, at least one that brings you all closer to one another and closer to Him. :)

  3. Yeah, I've always wanted to have one of those jellyfish exhibits in my bedroom. On my list of things for my million dollar home : ) Make sure to go to the aquarium on a "Toddler Tuesday". I know your girls aren't toddlers, but they have fantastic activities for the kids upstairs. Also, we have a woodland park zoo pass if you get bored enough to drive that far north in the coming weeks...

  5. Love these pictures, they depict so much! I'm glad you're blooming where you're at, despite all the obstacles and hurdles. I'm so glad we can rest in the fact that our God is bigger than what the world expects. :)

Jelly fish are my favorite thing to watch at aquariums. I LOVE Seattle so much, I wish we would have checked out the aquarium while we were there. If we ever make it back, you'll have to take us! ;) Love ya, girlfriend.

  6. Naomi, I love the spirit of adventure you have, and the trust in the Lord! He will honor that. But I read just today: Trust in the Lord includes trust in His timing. I am praying for y'all. :) Thanks so much for the peek into your life that I get from this blog. Love, Joanna

  8. Will rice actually cook in a coffee pot? You need a crock pot or two in that room if you don't have them already!

  11. It looks like you've been making the most of transitional living... a lot of fun places to explore. If it makes you feel any better, I lug my laundry (and two to three kids) to the quarter fed machines in our complex, and I live here permanently! ;) Love the picture of the girls and the sunset.

  12. Wow, you really captured it all in your pictures! I will pray that the Lord works all the details out. Definitely sounds like an exciting but crazy time as you are in this transitional phase. You have a great positive attitude, and I'm sure that helps a lot! Seattle sure has a lot of fun places, doesn't it? Isn't Redondo Beach in LA? I had no idea there was one up here! :)

  13. What a wonderful gift you are giving the girls. To show them that adventure is just around the corner even when you're not certain where it will lead. That's actually the best kind and it's all a blessing when you follow His plan. Prayers for a smooth transition. Looks like such a lovely area!

  14. Hi this me going through your old posts and commenting on them like I should have WEEKS ago!

You guys know how to make a home sweet home wherever you are, hotel, tent, range rover, it's all good! And that's really wonderful & inspiring :)

The Seattle aquarium looks amazing, gosh I'd love to go there. I was so into marine biology when I was your girls' age, too. I remember it well! And I always wanted to see Orca whales in the wild, and you lucky ducks live right near their habitat! ;)

Exodus 14:13-14 is such a great verse, I love when the Lord speaks His Word to us so clearly.
