This laundry soda has changed my life. No more musty smelling clothes... I'm convinced the scents and dyes and whatever have been making that musty smell, not my lackadaisical laundry schedule. Because I still have a lackadaisical laundry schedule, and my laundry no longer smells musty. And it comes in a darling little TIN!!! I can't handle the cuteness. I'll never be a laundry soap maker. I'm all about DIY, but laundry soap making is not even the slightest bit appealing to me. So this stuff is perfect.

I had one of these on my wishlist... but I was picky. I wanted a wooden one, not a metal one. And so I was going to wait a bit to purchase it because I had other more important things on my "to get" list. But Garrett ended up buying it for me... possibly because there were diapers draped all over the stairs and downstairs bathroom drying all the time. And I LOVE IT! I don't know how I've kept house for 12 years now without one. Completely indispensable.

The two times in my life that I've been sickest have been due to a lack of electrolytes. I'm quite convinced of it. Now that I recognize the symptoms I've been able to keep myself from getting sick by drinking Vitamin Water... But, buying Vitamin Water gets pricey, and other similar drinks have so much sugar and other garbage in them I'm not a fan of regular drinking of those either. So, we buy this stuff... and I love it. It's not a pretty colorful bottle in the fridge waiting to be consumed every time a hungry person opens the door, so we don't go through it unreasonably fast. But it's there and easy to mix once a day or so, for those of us who need it.
I've always used Disposable Breast Pads. But: The wrappers annoy the crap out of me. I was tired of finding those wispy plastic wrappers everywhere BUT the garbage can. And then I started paying attention to how much they cost. With a 2 month old baby I realized that I'd already spent over 50 dollars on disposable breast pads. This just seems wasteful. So I hit Etsy--as I was sure someone else had been irritated about this along the way. Sure enough. I LOVE these breast pads. They are super thin, very absorbent, cute as all get out, lined with organic sherpa and no more annoying wrappers. I got a 20 pack (10 pairs)--and so far I've been very happy with them. I do laundry at home all the time anyway... and I have enough to get me through a weekend away from home if needed.

If I'm going to use cloth diapers, it only makes sense to use cloth wipes... otherwise I'd have dirty used wipes floating around in my garbage cans with no closed diapers around them to keep the yucky contained. And I'm washing diapers, so it's no big deal to wash the wipes too. I wanted them cute, because they're in a glass jar. And I've been so happy with these. I bought the 24 wipes starter pack, and it's been a sufficient amount.

{I have not been paid or given any free stuff to say the kind things I've said about these products today. I just like them a lot and thought I'd share.}

I tried to use cloth diapers *but disposable wipes* maybe that should have said butt disposable wipes... (sorry)... anyway... funny enough... my childrens hineys could not handle the wet and they had red bums til I switched to disposable... BuTT. I had to also switch to clothes for wipes b/c they couldn't handle the wipes either... weird!! so we had white ones that I could bleach for the bum wiping and used the colored ones for bath, kitchen etc.... now we still use them as face clothes (new ones every couple years)... love them as face wash clothes... I will use baby wash clothes til I die. the end.! and yep... I think I love that tin w/ laundry soda?? in it... hm... google???? ... ;)
ReplyDeleteOh my word, that soda tin is TOO CUTE! I use hangers to hand up cloth diapers, and yes they are everywhere. I wish my laundry room was big enough for a drying rack!
ReplyDeleteOk, so what kind of solution do you use for your cloth wipes? I haven't ventured that far into crunchy-dom. ;)
I've been searching the internet day and night for tin and aluminum gifts for Tadd for our ten year anniversary--I can't believe that tin of laundry soda didn't pop up!!!! : ) It's cute as can be. I tried my hardest to use reusable nursing pads, but even if I stuffed in 4 at a time I leaked through in about 10 seconds. I was sure one of my kids would die with a disposable breast pad wrapper in his/her throat!
ReplyDeleteHa! I had to laugh when I saw the picture of your cloth diapers hanging around. I just pulled the bag of mine out of storage, and after washing them I now remember what it's like to have diapers hanging all over. I gave up on mine 4 years ago...maybe because with 3 kids in diapers at the time, I realized I was being crazy! Now with the thought of only one baby in diapers, I am bound and determined to do it again. :)
ReplyDeleteYou do EVERYTHING with style! Speaking of wipes...if you really want to take it over the top, I've seen tp with pictures of polarizing public figures on it. You know, politicians, etc.
ReplyDeleteLove all of this, it's fun to see my friends' favorite things! :)
ReplyDeleteI have TOTALLY found that scents and dyes make my laundry smell & feel extremely dingy. We have hard water, so that coupled with tropical scented detergent makes laundry that smells like rotting fruit & mildew. Yum? I've never tried Nellies before (that tin is ridiculously cute), but I bet it would work great for us. I find the powdered stuff works real good, if I have an especially gross load of laundry I use Hard Rock Rockin Green Cloth Diaper Detergent. Right now I've been using Arm & Hammer unscented with a half cup full of Borax, and it's working all right. Still a little musty though!
Okay I am glad to hear that those reusable breast pads work!! My mom bought me some when I was nursing M and I leaked through the bulky things in literally five seconds. It bummed me out so bad because the Lansinoh ones were so expensive, but they were the only ones that worked for me. And the wrappers ARE annoying! Maybe I'll try some from that Etsy shop whenever the next babies comes around.
And your cloth wipes are SOOOOOO cute!
Baby zing breast pads are awesome! They are thin enough to wear under a tank with a shelf bra. I've been using mine for about a year now.
ReplyDeleteAgreed,breast pads are a MUST while breast feeding. Thankfully I'm past milk explosion, but I used reusables as well. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much cheaper!!!
