The weather is warming, and I feel as though we are coming out of hibernation. While it's still snowing in the night most nights, it's melting during the day, and slowing the ground is thawing. We're even hearing birds, much to Kiki's dismay. She hates chirping birds. She may have gotten that from me. :-) Anyway, we've been heading outside in our shirtsleeves every day this week. I realize how acclimated I've gotten to this weather, when "shirtsleeves" to me means a long sleeve t-shirt, and most likely a jacket. :-) Anyway, here are some pics of this week.
The morning's snow, melting it's way up the mountain.

making mud pies...

Most folks around Wenatchee seem to just send their kids out to play willy-nilly, do things like leave their keys in the ignition all night long and their house unlocked, and generally don't worry too much about any kind of safety or security. It is a very safe town, but I can't quite bring myself to be that relaxed, so if they want to play outside, that means I have to sew outside. At least until we have a fenced backyard. Last summer I sewed a great many things in the garage so the kids could play outside. It's actually quite nice.

Sunshiney snack....

Kiki, outfit prior to playing in the mud...

Kiki, outfit after playing in the mud. Notice the Otter Pop. She was "hot" after riding her bike. The sun may be warm, but the wind is still frigid.

Getting the ball...

Practicing her Kung-fu-ing.

After a while, they wanted to pretend to be in a rodeo. So, one of our coolers became the horse, and they entertained themselves for quite sometime pretending to barrel race, rope cows, and get bucked off of broncos.

After a while, Kiki figured she should combine two of her favorite things, and fish from the back of a horse.

While Debris got down with the radio...

Then she got up, and started tire dancing. Her mother is glad it wasn't table dancing, although if she'd thought of it, I'm sure she would have done that too...

Happy Friday!
I love the mini skirt and snow boots! How cute. The bull riding reminds me of bennie last weekend in Santa Barbara rode a mechanical bull for about 15 seconds...it was quite funny! Cant wait to see you all!!!!!!!~Greta
ReplyDeleteOMGOSH!! That mountain is right out your back door?! Very covetous right now......LOL
ReplyDeleteThe girls are a hoot in their hot/cold clothes! And aren't you the clever girl to think up sewing in the garage while watching them play?
HI GIRLS!!!!
Looks like the girls LOVE to be outside!! Sounds pretty normal :) What a great idea to sew in the garage, now if we only had room in ours.... Enjoyed all your great pics, the girls are growing up!
ReplyDeleteAhh, I love the imaginations they have. Nothing like being able to picnic, go horseback riding, and play in the mud all in one day. Missing you all, grammy
ReplyDeleteI agree, what a beautiful area you live in! And you get more sunshine...pout, pout! :) It's always so wonderful when the kids can run around and play outside without being bundled up. Even better when the summer comes!
ReplyDeleteHaha, I like the fishing from horseback picture... and bri watching on-"this is how you do it bri." You have no idea how happy it makes me that she likes fishing so much. There's a Wyoming postcard that actually has a crusty old cowpoke fishing from his horse, "Wyoming style." Bri has really good kung-fu form, i bet she kicks Frank's butt on a regular basis... Lord knows what he needs. David
ReplyDeleteYou just wait, bub- I'm teaching her the (f)art of kung-fu so she can take on her scrawniest uncle!!
ReplyDeleteAnd if anyone could teach her a (f)art, it would be you, howitzer man! As soon as you all earn your brown belts in kung-pu, i'll send you a spoon to clean up!
