Kidbits...

So, last week, I was uber-organized. I had all the pics I needed for the three more posts that I wanted to do before we pack up and head down to Fresno, CA for Auntie G's wedding. I was organized. On top of everything. In control.

Then, the memory card on our camera bit the dust. Everything on it---Irretrievable. I can look at it on the camera, but it refuses to jump over to Mr. Computer's gigantic brain. So, those posts are no more, apparently. And, my unusually organized self is left hanging, with no prepared posts ready to go. And, laundry, dishes, and other random household things waiting in the wings, taunting me.

So, today I am doing a Kidbits post with the material I have, and then running for the hills. Or doing laundry, and dishes, and cleaning out the fridge, and dusting, and baking, and handsewing the stuff I've been procrastinating on handsewing, because I am horrible at handsewing and I hate it. I haven't decided yet. Maybe I'll just run for the hills.

A sentence that came out of my mouth not too long ago:
"Play the guitar with your hands, not with the cow!!!

Debris walks into the room naked.
Me: "Debris, where are your clothes?!"
Debris (In a slow, dreamy voice, with expansive hand and head gestures!): "I don't need them. This house is my ocean, and I'm swimming with the fish!"
Kiki to Daddy: "We need to have another kid, so Brie'n'me don't have to sleep alone!"

Me hollering to Kiki through the locked bathroom door: "Kiki, whatcha doin'?!
Kiki: Getting ready for my concert!

Kiki: Daddy can we snuggle on the couch?
Daddy, teasing her: Wellllllllllll...
Kiki, matter-of-factly: I would really prefer that you say yes, Dad.

When we were going losting, and Daddy wasn't going where Kiki thought he should...
Kiki: "Ok, that's it! When we get home, I'm calling your mom!"
Conversation continues from the backseat:
Kiki: Ring, Ring, Ring!
Kiki: Hi Gramma G! This is Kiki!
Kiki, in high pitched channelling Gramma G imitation voice: "Why, hello Kiki!"
Kiki: Your son is being very naughty! I want to go home, and he won't take me there!"
Gramma G: Well, when you get home, you should take the paddle out, and spank his butt!
Kiki: Ok, thank you Gramma G!
Gramma G: You're welcome!
Kiki, after "hanging up" with Gramma: Gramma G said when we get home I'm going to get the paddle out and spank you!
Repeat identical phone conversation with Grammy N, about Momma.

Debris backseat wisdom: "Did you know, you have blood in your tummy, and brain in your head, and God in your heart?"

Me: Debris, why are you destroying your sandwich?
Debris: Because I hate the sand, but I love the wich! (she ate all the ham and cheese, but left the bread, so I guess that makes sense!)

Debris, watching Momma make Daddy's lunch sandwich: Peppercini's are very hate-able!

And, you may have caught my twitter update on this one, but it's too cute to NOT put in a kidbits post. The other day, Kiki and Debris took all their clothes off, and were rolling their round ottoman back and forth between them while running through the living room/hallway, and yelling back and forth at each other... needless to say, I was very confused by this game. Until they got distracted and I went to put the ottoman back in their room. Kiki yelled, "Hey! Whatcha doin' with my tire!? I'm the pitcrew!" Needless to say, that immediately made the whole game make sense. Not the naked part, which makes me giggle, because it immediately makes me imagine all the Nascar pitcrews running around doing their jobs naked, but the rolling back and forth of the ottoman made sense anyway. Life will never be boring with these kids of mine.

Also, the girls INSIST that "Hip hip HOORAY!" Is actually "Hip hip PRAY!" It's just too cute, isn't it?! And reminds me to give thanks for these little treasures when I hear it shouted around the house, throughout the day!

Debris has a great fondness for peeling. She's been pulling carrots out of the fridge, the garbage out from under the sink, and peeling them, and eating them whole. I'm finding carrot shavings and half eaten carrots everywhere around here.

They both refer to themselves as "Brie'n'me". Even Debris.
And, kidbits posts wouldn't be complete without pics. So, here are old pics to complement this post. I'm off to work on laundry--I can tell this week is going to go by so fast! We're going to be headed to Fresno before I know it!
Happy Monday!

  2. Hi Naomi,

Have you tried hooking your camera to the computer through the USB port and downloading instead of inserting the card into the card reader--it may work. Great narrative and pics! You had Harry and I really laughing at your kids antics, especially the house is an ocean bit. Kids really bring laughter and life to a family!

  5. Hey Amy! I actually went looking for the USB cable right after I figured out the card wasn't reading. Frank thinks we didn't get one with the camera... But we have enough cables around here to put Best Buy to shame, so I just need to do some searching and see. I might try my parents cable---they have the same camera. I havent' given up on those pics yet. But, I didn't lose very many, I'd backed them up pretty recently.

  6. being organized is overrated anyway. ;) i hate handsewing too, but oddly enough, my handsewing looks better than my machine sewing. maybe it's because it's my mom's old sewing machine. I named that machine "mario." he has two speeds: fast and really fast. my mom's new sewing machine hates me, and the bobbin jams up everytime i look at it, but it works fine for her. go figure.

  7. I adore these posts! They are just sooo funny! "I don't need them. This house is my ocean, and I'm swimming with the fish!" That one is amazing. I also loved the sand/wich differentiation. Very smart actually!
