The Rocky Reach Dam, Bountiful Fruits & Visitors
I can't figure how I haven't blogged about The Rocky Reach Dam before. It is, hands down, one of Kiki and Debris FAVORITE places in Wenatchee to visit. They have beautiful grounds with picnic areas and a play structure, a fun museum, interactive electricity science toys, and, best of all, fish ladders. So, we've spent an inordinate amount of time at the Rocky Reach Dam since we moved here, and it is one of the girls favorite places to share with any visitors we get. For weeks before my parents came to visit, the girls were so excited to share The Rocky Reach Dam with them.
We took a picnic lunch...
We saw a train... one of Poppa's favorite things, so the girls love them too.
We--meaning they-- played on the play structure for a while...
The grounds there are gorgeous, and so well taken care of... they have a tree tour that you can do if you walk the grounds, with a tree legend. It makes me feel so old to say that I find that fun.
But we don't want our picture taken. We want to go see the fish ladders!!
Yay! Their favorite part. The fish viewing rooms.
Thankfully we saw quite a few fish... we have literally spent hours in this room... it is so much fun to come in August and September when there is literally no elbow room at all for the fish.
The fish ladders from the top...
And just a few shots from the museum area...
The girls, pretending to look like grumpy loggers...
I believe they were pretending to be pirates here...
The Rocky Reach Dams is one of the only, or maybe the only Dam that civilians can walk over since 9/11.
A neat sign from the Dam, looking over the grounds...
Yay for county owned dams!!
After our trip to the Dam, we stopped by another one of our favorite places in Wenatchee, Bountiful Fruits... a lovely fruit store with mostly all local fruits and vegetables, as well as other fun things like locally produced honey, sauces, soaps, soups, etc. As well as hand dipped Tillamook Ice Cream. Perfect on a 95 degree day!!

I'm looking at your blog before feeding the kids breakfast. Ezra says, at 7:30 AM "Can I have some ice cream too? Can I?" Haha. I'm STARVING after reading about Bountiful Fruits : )
ReplyDeleteOkay, you won't be surprised when I tell you I'm a little brain-dead. I read your title as "Eventful Fruits" and wondered just exactly what eventful fruits were. Made me wonder what events I had been missing! Okay, bountiful makes more sense now. lol
ReplyDeleteI'm in LOVE with that PLACE!!! Now I REALLY feel bad that we won't be coming to Washington this year. We had planned our trip next month but work and the economy have jettisoned those plans. But when we get back up there, we HAVE to go to this place! Lovely pics, Naomi. I would never have known about this but through you. :)
Rocky Reach Dam looks like a definate place to visit. We drove by the exit for it last summer when we were in Leavenworth/Moses Lake. Will have to go back. I really like the flower flag and I know my kids would really enjoy watching the fish swim by. Have you every been to Smallwoods fruit stand outside of Leavenworth? That was a frequent stop for us during the one week we were in the area.
ReplyDeleteLooks like alot of fun!
ReplyDeleteI love that fruit sign.
