Snow, School and Cool

Teusday morning we FINALLY awoke to a respectable amount of the white stuff... YAY! The girlies bundled up straight from their jammies and headed into the backyard to play. They sledded down our little hill...

For a while there, I was thinking the dog might not poo or pee until spring... she flat out refused to go out there. To be fair to the snow, she feels the same way about the rain. Actually, I think she might like the snow a little better than the rain. So, she was quite perturbed by the fact that the girls went out to enjoy it... and instead of joining them, she chose to sit by the door and growl, moan, and grumble and mutter about the fact that they were out there having fun in that nasty white stuff.

So then we ran a bunch of errands, and we found, to their utter glee, a gingerbread house making kit... so we bought it, and they anxiously awaited daddy's arrival home from work, because I told them Daddy would put it together with them. I can think of about 40 bajillion different things I'd rather do than put a gingerbread house together, so I gleefully handed the project off to Frank, and let him do it with them.

They were pretty pleased with their end result, and I've noticed, suspiciously enough, that there seems to be a lot less candy on that house this afternoon that there was last evening... hmmmm....
We've been getting presents right and left in the mail from family for Brie's birthday and Christmas. Since family is so busy, and Brie's birthday comes right after Thanksgiving, when everything is crazy, we've tried to make it so the girl's actual birthday is just about celebration, and doing fun things, but the presents trickle in both before and after... so we let the girls open their birthday presents as they get them, but the Christmas ones have to wait until Christmas. So all the educational games and toys we've gotten recently have been making school really fun for the girls these days... this morning for our letters and words excercises we put together the alphabet puzzles from The Adventurer and Auntie Ten.
'Scuze the bedhead. :-)
And then we took Daddy lunch, and it's just so gorgeous, I decided to take the dog and the camera and drive around and explore a bit afterwards. Have I mentioned that I LOVE this weather? So, that's what we did. We went down to the East Wenatchee Waterfront Trail first, and played there for a little bit.

Debris insisted upon balancing on slippery rocks over the water as much as possible. I warned her that if she fell in she would not be comfortable. She didn't care.
There is nothing quite so pointless, mindless or relaxing as throwing rocks into a body of water. People really should do that more. It's great stress relief... and I'm always amazed at how fun it is, especially with the kids.

I finally got a chance to stop by a snow covered orchard and take pics of the red apples that didn't get picked... I love this. Hopefully at some point this winter I'll be able to do this when the sky is blue too...

Sorry, I couldn't pick just one. :-) And, then, we finished up our exploring by taking Rovey onto a dirt road next to a wheatfield, and letting her run for a bit--always a good time.
Hope you're loving life, where ever you are!

  2. So, so adorable, our little ones! Those pictures of the apples are very nice...I'd love to make a larger print from one of them...I've never seen apples with snow on them and the lack of a lot of other colors just makes them and the pics prettier. Love the picture of the snow, water, and trees, too.

  6. Wow, you got some great pics! Love the apples in the snow - how rare is that! You got way more snow than we did up here! We got at the most 3-4 inches overnight then it turned to rain. :(
