Cleaning the Earf

I've had a little bit of a strange week... I've gotten a lot done, but not things that were really on a list. So, while I've been busy, and I've accomplished a lot, I don't really have that sense of accomplishment that I ought, because my laundry is yet undone, and my floors still need a scrubbin', so as a result yesterday I was feeling a little irritable, and decided to take the dog up Blue Grade to let her run. She has plenty of room to frolic in our backyard, but she does enjoy having fields and hills to charge over, and new things to sniff. Also, the girls and I needed a change of scenery... so we took daddy lunch and then headed up Blue Grade.

I was hoping for some mud, but it was pretty much frozen solid up there... We found a spot and parked, let the dog get out to run, and then we just wandered around, seeing what we could see. One interesting thing we found...
Woof! I'm pooped! I have so much respect for people who can video running dogs... I can't get a good one... she runs like the wind.

The area we chose to park had an appalling amount of trash... The girls were horrified speachless, it did my heart good. We have always tried to teach them to "pack out more than we pack in" and generally care for our national forests, and nature as a whole as a gift from God, I was so proud of them when they voluntarily begin picking up the garbage. They have been learning in Sunday School class about how they can use their eyes, ears, tongue, hands and feet for Jesus, and so after surveying the mess, Kiki announced that today they were going to use their hands for Jesus by "Cleaning his planet Earf" for Him. And so they did.

While I goofed around with the camera...

These will make you happy on any given day!!
Using these can also do a body good. :-)
While the girls were picking up shotgun shells, Callie took it upon herself to begin chewing a deer hide that had been left there... I was a little nervous about letting her do that, but I inspected it, and it appears that it was frozen immediately after being removed from the deer, so I let her go ahead... wow, did she ever have fun!!!!

There were also a lot of these to pick up...
Yum...
You have to let me take this home!! You have to! (I didn't!)
Wow mom, I think she might eat this whole thing!
Here is the picture of all the trash the girls cleaned up. We left that area in significantly better shape than we found it. If only I could get them to care about their room that much... :-)

I really am a happy dog. I know, I look sad, but I'm SO SO SO happy. I promise!
And, coming back down the hill...
Have a great weekend! We will have a fun post on Saturday or maybe Monday, as today is Debris' birthday, and we'll be celebrating starting this morning with a trip to the fire station for a personal tour. :-) Happy Birthday my Baby B!

  3. I love it that you jump in and take off alone with the girls and the dog. My kind of woman. I know we'd much rather have our guys along but it's good for us and the kids to jump in there by ourselves once in awhile.

You'll get a kick out of this....when I was reading about you letting the dog chew on the hide for some reason I thought it was one of the girls and I was like "WHAT???!!" Figured it out eventually, all by myself. Very relieved, I must say. lol

GOOD JOB GIRLS CLEANING UP GOD'S EARF!!! I'm sure he's VERY proud of you! ME TOO!!!

  4. I love how they can apply sunday school concepts into their lives...smart little thinkers they are! Wish I could bring my doggy and let him run with you guys...although I think Calypso might not appreciate him...by the way, the profile picture of her is fabulous. I don't think I would want to be on her bad side=)! Auntie G

  5. Way to go! That's a days work in itself! I know what you mean about getting a lot done yet not feeling like it because there's so much else that's screaming to be done. Extra work/projects/unplanned activities really cause that dilemma. But they can be so worth it. Good job, clean-up crew! What a beautiful view up there. Wowee!

Sorry, but the dog chewing the animal remains is GROSS. But dogs will be dogs.
