A Summer Day

It's been a week where everything we've done has been summer-ish. Lovely weather, and fun summer activities like evening walks on the waterfront, visits to the splashpad, yard work, and light fresh veggie summer meals. I haven't taken pictures of everything, but here's a few I've gotten.

Homemade Farfalle (Bowtie) Pasta for homemade pasta salad that is a family favorite. It wasn't actually closed anymore, but we could see where the water had been. The river is still incredibly high.

The light is even brighter when viewed through the dark forest. :-)

There's something so blissful about dappled sunlight through trees.

They don't get to play in sand too often, so when they find some, they take advantage of it.

Beautiful girls, who are growing up way too fast.

Sage--that hot summer smell that instantly relieves stress, and makes me happy, whether it's up in the Sage Steppes with my Land Rover and family, or by the side of a city trail on a summer evening.

Cheerful children.

Beautiful blooms.

More dappled sunlight, with that lovely orange glow of nearing sunset.

Hope your summer is treating you well!

  1. Oh how fun. Missing you all. Nothing like the smell of sage. As you say the smell of sage relieves stress. Nothing like a deep breath of it. And the sweet embrace of the girls, that tops all. XO

  2. Love these pictures, every single one of them! I love summer time...nothing like fresh food, hot sun and family! Wish we could bbq and play in the pool together. It's my favorite cause there are no electronics to distract=) XOXO. Auntie G

  6. Farfalle? Ahem *overachiever* ahem.

(Only because I am far less Super Mom to make that from scratch - though I do love the final product! :)

    Love that dappled sunlight too!

  9. Oye! Here you are making pasta from scratch and I'm feeding my bunch barbeque sandwiches. Sure would be tasty with some pasta salad! Would you mind sharing that recipe along with the homemade pasta? Just in case I stumble upon a spare 'Super Mom' gene. LOL. I hope your family knows how blessed they are! Ah! Dappled sunlight sounds heavenly. None of that to be found around here so tell the girls to soak up some extra for us.

  10. Looks like a beautiful summer! Our summer isn't being so kind to us so far... :( 104+ heat, wind, and 0 chances for rain. Enjoy it for us desert dwellers!!
