So Sick Babies...

As of Wednesday, Debris had a cold. There isn't anything more sad than a sick baby. Kiki came down with it last night, so today I have two sick babies. Even with them whimpering while they try to sleep and breathe at the same time, while they're blowing giant snot wads every time they sneeze, while they just want me to sit and cuddle them as my to-do list grows exponentially, I've tried to maintain some semblance of normal around here. Getting them dressed in the morning, making them clean their room, ride their bikes, play outside, etc. Today, I GIVE UP! They are doped up on sleepy Motrin for the day, they are not allowed to leave the couch, and they are watching movies... ALL DAY LONG! I must get something done around here, and this is the only solution I see. So, while I'm not entirely hopeful of it's success, I'm going to give it a shot. If only they would take naps...

I know Debris is sick when I find her willy-nilly around the house, lounging.

So, I've been keeping an eye on Kiki, cuz when one's sick, you know the other isn't far behind, and as of yesterday Kiki was still doing a good job of being herself, as evidenced by these pics:

But, I could tell it was coming. As a side note, in these pics she was singing "Can't take my eyes off you" by Frank Valli. One of her favorite songs, due to the fact that Auntie G has been singing that song to her since she was born, filling in where he says "baby" with "Kiki"... She's been singing it a lot lately, she told me the other day she was singing it cuz she misses her "Auntie G**** Girl" so very much. AWWwwwww.

Anyhoo, sure enough, this morning she climbed into my bed around 6, with a very stuffy nose, and I think a little bit of a fever. So, hopefully a lazy day will help them to feel better just in time to be their normal lively selves, and then you know I'll be coming down with it. I'm taking my vitamins, to be sure.

I think Debris might be feeling a little better, due to the fact that she asked for food this morning. I should know better than to bake, buy or acquire by any means muffins or cupcakes with any sort of topping on them. She will never eat the muffin/cupcake, she only eats the top of it. So, this is what I am left with, all around my house.

She actually told me the muffin was "fantastic" and tried to get another one! When I wouldn't let her, she told me I was "stressterating" her. Hee hee! Gotta love the Toddler logic (Todgic, perhaps?) and hodge-podge vocab!

Have a great weekend!

  1. Such a sad tale!! I would love to hold and rock both of them all day long! I did have to laugh, though, when I saw the pic of Debris' plate and the muffin bottoms; it looks just like Papa G's plate after he's had muffins!!

  2. HAHAHA!! That's funny! I can totally see it. It reminds me of the seinfeld episode where they try to start a business of just muffin tops, and Kramer ends up going all around new york with bags of muffin bottoms. SO FUNNY! The only way she'll even eat a whole cupcake is if she eats the top layer off, I add more frosting, she eats that, and repeat. Just FYI, It takes approx 4 layers of frosting to eat a cupcake like that. :-) The last one is mostly crumbs and frosting.
