Well, after a very long, and thankfully uneventful road trip through the night, we ended up at Uncle D & Auntie A's. It's so very pretty here... and so fun to be with family. Attached are a 'few' pictures so far.
We had to stop and wait a while while some ranchers took a herd of cattle accross the road on the way...

We had a mini snowfall in the hills around us on our first day here...

The girls had a great time Sunday playing with Uncle D...

The girls climbed The Tetons this morning... What is it with gravel piles in the driveway and this family?

They also enjoyed the horse, quite a lot.

Although, Debris' favorite thing was picking the horse poop out of her boots... weirdOH!

Then, today we took a hike up into the hills surrounding where we are, and checked out Intermittent Springs. Every 12-18 minutes it lets loose with a torrential downpour of water, that was oh so impressive, tumbling it's way down the mountain side. Following are some pics from that. All I have to say, is someone should take the camera away from me. I took SO many pics! I wish I could have captured the smell. The smell in the mountains around here is AMAZING! So alpine, or something.
The first snow I've held in my hands this year, Mom!

Searching for the perfect throwing rocks, with which to stone the creek...
The closer to the water, the happier Debris is.

Being on a slippery log, over the top of the water is even better. She is quite fond of Auntie A...

Of course, she was also quite fond of climbing very steep muddy hills as well... she was a magnificent hiker, I must say. She kept saying, "I'm a good hiker, Mom, I yam. This is SO cool!"

Poor Mr. MJ kept going ahead, and then having to wait for us... In a fine posing manner. Way cute!

Waiting on top of the intermittent springs for the water to spring forth...

Headed back down the Canyon... Mr. MJ is going to hate this pic someday (ok, maybe right now even!), but it was so cute, I am putting it up here anyway.

It is a little known fact that my father is a ruthless hiker. He used to drag me and my sibs all over the Cascades every Saturday, and no lollygagging or whining was allowed. He was ruthless, I tell ya. He's gotten soft with the grandbabies, as can be seen very clearly here.

Coming home cold as ice, and learning how to build a fire with Auntie A, then curling up in a blankie beside it, nothing better!

Such a fun day!

Wow, that area looks so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a blast! What a gorgeous, yet rugged, area! I'm sure it left great memories for all of you. My aunt used to live in Wyoming for probably 30 years, but we never went there. Maybe someday!
