Barbequein'...

We anxiously await the easy and restful Saturdays of Spring, Summer and Autumn, where we all look forward to BBQ Saturdays... menu planning, ingredient gathering, and best of all the four of us working together and playing together all day around the house all day, until our food is done. The times of togetherness, and the lessons being taught and learned are priceless... moments these parents record on the pages of their hearts...
and smile, because they know that the complaints, fights, owies and minor irritants that happen throughout the day will eventually get recounted at family gatherings and laughingly remembered as "the good old days"...
And, hopefully, the children will take all they learn with them, and be most excellent BBQ chefs themselves, because that way their parents will eat well when they are old. Amen.

  1. Oh man, it is really not fair that I can't smell that. Or eat it.

  2. And Amen. That's how I write all my stuff. I just turn all yesterday's (and today's) aggravations (well, most of them) into "The Good Old Days." Spin Masterin' ain't new. Just the term for it, huh?

HI GIRLS!! YOU LOOK SMOKEY!! :)

  3. This was the most heartfelt eloquent post about child rearing and BBQ I do believe I've ever read. I applaud you. :) And yes to teaching children to cook/clean/live well, because one day I fully intend on living in my kids basement or guest room.

  7. Sounds like a perfect Saturday to me! Hope the chicken turned out great. I agree, the retelling of those little funny odd moments always make me think to myself, "We must be doing something right if they (the kids) remember that!"
