Our Independence Day Weekend
Before heading off to our anxiously awaited Independence Day weekend camping trip, we stopped by to say hi to our friends who bring the FedEx Nascar to visit Wenatchee. This picture is from last year, where my girls decided to be "one's" like the #11 on Denny Hamlin's car.
And, we had to repeat... as if we needed proof how much they've grown in one year... wow.
So then we headed off over Colockum Pass--the offroad pass that runs between Ellensburg and Wenatchee. Such a beautiful drive. I wouldn't recommend it in a regular car, but in Rovey it's pretty easy. Unfortunately for the forest/meadow landscape they lease out the land for grazing... but it made for some good cow pics.
We saw one elk--seen here heading for the trees. The fun part?! We came around the corner and saw her... she started running... Frank rolled down the window and Kiki did her Elk Call... and the Elk STOPPED, and listened, as if thinking about coming to inspect! It pretty much made Kiki's evening--this girl has every intention of hunting elk someday... I hope she never loses that sportswoman inside her!!
Since it's been so wet and cool, the wildflowers are in their height right now--usually they'd be almost completely dried up. They were absolutely beautiful.
Sunset over Quincy & Moses Lake... about 80-ish miles away, by road.
Sunset on pine trees, smells amazing and looks beautiful.
The wildflowers, oh my heart!

Acres and acres of this... gorgeous.
Last year the first camping trip we took with Callie was to the Quilemene. She LOVES it here...
Pine... I heart pine trees.
The next morning we headed off... all Rover's on this trip... SO fun!!
Here we are, and where we're going... this GPS system has saved our booties a few times. It's also made us aware of how many miles of unexplored trails there are in this region. Hopefully we'll get to explore a few more of them this summer. If you're interested in an awesome GPS system I highly recommend this one.

ReplyDeleteHI GIRLS! Envy isn't a nice emotion. Don't be like Robynn at Robynn's Ravings! She has to go and try and be sorry now. Sometimes that hard, huh? But she really is VERY HAPPY that you and Mommy and Daddy had such a wonderful time! :)
These are totally awesome! Someday we'll live close enough to you to go on these grand excursions...in our Saturn. ha. Oh wait, THAT won't work!!! Whatever, we are coming and you can drag us behind you if you have too! I like the new header, it is a lovely photo!
