Fedex Nascar visits Wenatchee

This weekend, thanks to Frank, and B, his counterpart in a different operating division of FedEx, we had the FedEx Nascar visit Wenatchee for the weekend. Friday it was parked at FedEx Office for the public to come check out, and hotdogs were served, and then Saturday it was at the Wenatchee Valley Super Oval for race night. It was a HUGE hit... we're pretty sure it is the first time any kind of Nascar has visited Wenatchee, and it was quite well recieved. :-) We're glad it was the Fedex one. :-)

The race track was holding a food drive, and they had the fun bus, so all the kids got to ride the track a couple laps... Kiki and Debris are right in the center of the bus, hanging out the window, pink and white shirts, in front of red shirt kid. :-)

The guys who made it all happen... apparently they looked quite official, because they got asked if they were looking for drivers a few times. :-)

Yeah, they got approval from approximately 40 bajillion lawyers and insurance suits to take a couple laps. It was totally worth it. We've got another sweet photo of this on B's camera I'm waiting for too--I'll stick it in here when I get it.

Down in the pits, this car was like a magnet in a box of nails.

Sunset at the track, just gorgeous.

Friday, at office. Daddy and his little race fans. :-)

They dressed themselves. Since it was hot, they thought they should wear socks. I tried to tell them that was not common sense, they would have none of it. So I gave up.

Being one's! So smart and clever, my children are.

Borrowing my shades. :-)

Pouring water on themselves, it was a smokin' hot day!

So, being a Nascar driver is my dream job. This is the only picture of me from the whole weekend, so it has to be posted. I apologize.

A sweet video opportunity :-)

And, back at the track. Kiki using her "Reenocolurs" to check out the cars on the track.

They were too young to visit the pits. This resulted in copious amounts of tears and a great deal of rage at the unfair treatment of children in the world.

It makes a momma proud, I tell ya what.
I would like it duly noted that I have two rabid race fans on my hands. All they were missing was mullets, the canned Coors Light, and their Marlboros.

My view of the race track. I heart my boots! And, I want a legend car.

My girls in the fun bus...

Yes this car had a smallish engine in it. Only 850 horsepower.

Grin! Thanks B and Frank, for bring a totally fun weekend here to Wenatchee... I think it might be the talk of the town for just a wee bit!

  7. While I am not a fan of loud noises or internal combustion engines, you actually made the whole experience look like fun! I've never laughed so much at crying children (not that I usually do)...they're just so dramatic I couldn't help. :-) Did you ever discover the logic behind the socks-for-hot-days theory?

  9. Nope. It felt like I'd been transported to crazy land for that conversation. (or, maybe I'm already in it! HA HA! HO HO! HEE HEE!)

    It went like this:

Kids talking to each other: It's gonna be really hot today, so be sure to put socks on!!

Me: You don't wear socks! It's supposed to be 95 today! You're not wearing socks! That will make you SO hot!

Them: But mom, its hot out. We need to wear socks!

Repeat 4 or 5 times. End with me shaking my head and walking away. Ya just can't tell em anything, so why waste your breath? Some things must be learned through experience.

Then, when we got home to the AC, they kept their socks on because their feet were cold. Huh?!
