A bit of fallishness...

Normally I am not too fond of the word "fall." I prefer "autumn". Fall brings to mind ummm... falling for me. Now, falling temperatures, falling gas prices, falling in love, stuff like that can be a good thing, but in reality, I would say the word "fall" doesn't usually bring something pleasant to mind right of the bat. Maybe I'm just a "glass half empty" sort of person. But, when I hear the word fall, I think of my Gramma falling down stairs (Hope you feel better soon gramma!), falling stock market (Not going to be looking at my 401k for a couple years at least!), falling rocks, (Hey, there's signs all around here for stuff like that, my paranoia has reached new depths, or heights, or whatever.), falling out of a boat, falling off a horse, falling off a cliff, well, you get the picture. Anyway, I LOVE the word autumn. Autumn for me is the very best time of year. Without further ado--here are a few pics of the autumn harvest fun we're having around here.

Yes, I know this pic is dark. By the time I figured out the flash hadn't popped up, the moment was over. For the record, she was yelling, "I'm a PUMPKIN!" over and over while doing this.

Helping mommy scoop the seeds. Pepito's are in the works, as is homemade pumpkin puree. YUMMMMM!
Kiki had a very cold "pic-a-nic" yesterday with a solar garden light, a skateboard, a pile of gravel, a my little pony and a shovel. We're considering therapy for her. She still refuses to wear a coat.
Drumming the pumpkins.

"Check out the bean you forgot to pick 20 times, Mom!" Oh wait, that's the guilty voice in MY head! I think Debris was actually saying, "Check out this awesome bean Mom! It's HUGE! For the record, I cleaned out the garage after this picture was taken. No, really, I did!! I swear!
Carrots! I've never dug up carrots before! It was so fun, they smelled so good!
No words needed for the following pic sequence:

I came into the living room this afternoon to catch them THROWING the pumpkins like bowling balls, baseballs, footballs, Chinese fighting stars, you name it. I immediately put a stop to that madness, but not before one of the stems of one of the pumpkins got broken off. Kiki took one look at it, and said, "Oh no! Our pumpkin needs a patch eye!" I think she meant "eye patch." This put them in pirate mode, which invariably causes them to empty out the coffee table chest we have and play pirates for a while. AHOY!
Ok, I'm off to puree pumpkin, clean the bathrooms, fold 8 loads of laundry and generally appear to be Domestic Empress Supreme of the Universe before Frank Castle gets home. HA!

  1. You have a very cute blog, Naomi! And what adorable little girls you have...sounds like they're chock full of personality (wonder where they got that?)! What fun. Treasure every moment, even the not so nice ones (like when they're pulling each others' hair or just made a huge mess with your lipstick!).

  3. Thanks Lily! Yep, we're all about personality around here. :-) And, the lipstick thing has actually happened a few times. And, we don't keep vaseline in the house anymore for the same reason. That was a mess. *Shudders in horror*

Jenn, aren't those carrots cool?! I love them! I'm planting loads and loads of carrots next year. The yellow one's are SO sweet! The reason they're so twisty is cuz we have very clay soil here. Apparently if you have sandy soil they grow straighter. While I'm not fond of my clay, I do like the funky carrots. Who wants boring straight ones?

  4. Of most importance to a grammy are the pictures of the babies but I think the quilt in the background is really cute. Sending a XO XO to each grandbaby! grammy

  5. Thanks mom! :-) I guess I should have moved that, huh? Now it won't completely be a surprise for the intended recipient--I didn't even notice! :-) I guess I was looking at the babies too! :-)
