But, at the same time, I feel very strongly that Christians must separate from the world. Especially raising kids, it's important to me that they realize we have been so blessed with a different set of values, and a home where our Lord is appreciated. The last couple years we've had other things happening on October 31, so the decision to stand firm has been a bit superfluous. This year, we'll be headed to Wyoming on October 31, so while I've told them we're not celebrating Halloween, and why, I've also always followed it up with, "Besides, we're going to be on our way to Wyoming that night anyway..." While typing this out, I'm realizing how stupid that was... kind of takes the authority out of my previous "No Halloween" statement, huh?! Oh well, live and learn.
Anyway, the other day I was taking yet more pictures of them playing, and I kind of realized that there is always some sort of costume being worn around here... Halloween is a bit unnecessary with regards to the costuming. Keep in mind these pics are only from the last couple weeks... this post couldn't handle any more than that!
I was informed that these costumes are their pirate outfits. They then proceeded to "go swording." I had put the camera away by then, but there was some very interesting "swording" choreography that went of for quite some time there.
This is Debris' Mt. Everest climbing costume from the other day.
Debris was being a Mom here. She was taking her baby for a walk. Just a disclaimer here, I NEVER dress like this! She did not come up with this one by example--it's straight from her mad little mind.
Being a princess can never be overrated. We usually have at least an hours worth of princess play around here every day. Sigh.
Costumes are so much fun, aren't they?! Regardless of when you wear them... perhaps we'll have to have costumed birthday parties or something. :-)
Have a great day!
Nothing like costumes to put your imagination in another world! Such cute babies! grammy

Hi N,
ReplyDeletestick with your conviction- this celebration has dark origins. If everybody does it, then when our kids grow up, who can stand against it? our kids are not going to have more exalted values than their parents, and you notice that its the parents who are saying how much fun they had when they were kids going out trick or treating that can't escape this very fun satanic holiday. I am thankful that I never was brought out to trick or treat in a costume so it is easier for me not not be one of the ones excusing themseves. Not being a Halloweenie was one of the ways my parents taught that we were different. this difference is valuable and precious. we have a Saviour that fought against the powers of darkness on the cross, and christians have every right to stand in complete opposition to any associations with our worst enemy - and His - however slight they may be. We are free to please Him. Teach your children the way they should go!
from your sister in Christ- mother of young children- visted last m.l. fellowship- thanks for the play foam tip- we got some.
