A Chinook

I shouldn't be complaining... it was very nice to wear shoes that were not snow boots today--I believe I've worn snow boots only, for 3 weeks straight, if not longer. But, that being said, while a Chinook is a pretty interesting experience, I'm not sure that I like it all that much--the first week of January anyhoo! It's a very good thing for Frank... the winter weather has made work annoying difficult evil interesting for him. So, with this warmer weather, maybe he'll be able to come home, and I'll remember what he looks like. That will be nice. That being said, Kiki was QUITE traumatized when she awoke this morning. I could tell she'd looked out her window in her bedroom, because she came out with her tiny little shoulders slumped, and her head so low, it was practically dragging behind her. (She has the most dramatic shoulder slump ever!) "Did you look out the window?" I asked. "Yeah," she says, "Why did God make the snow go away?! That's not fair, how will we sled and have fun? I guess God doesn't want us to have fun anymore." HAHA! I was quick to reassure her that God didn't allow the snow to melt with the intent to torture her. She was not impressed.

However, this warm (Debris calls it "werm") weather is supposed to last a week. And, that could be a very bad thing, if the orchard trees in the area begin to awaken from their winter slumber. Then, when cold weather hits again, it will be very hard for the trees to recover, and could really hurt the fruit crops our area is famous for. Not to mention my currently minuscule plant selection.

Here's just a few pics of how much melted overnight... (!!!!!!!!!)

This pic is currently a favorite of mine... sunny snowy split rail, I'm calling it. Before the Chinook, you could barely see the bottom rail.
Now, on another positive note, we took a long fast walk today with our new jogging (walking!) stroller. I am so excited to have it, it will be so nice to be able to exercise with the kiddos when the weather is better (meaning now, I guess!) and go to the farmer's market this summer without Debris escaping and throwing apricots around, pretending to "go baseballing" while I am trying to pick through peaches. Not that that ever happened.

  2. Easier!? Almost every highway in the state is closed due to avalanche, mudslide, water or all of the above.
    Easier will be next week...

It's fun moving to a new place and learning the ins-and-outs of the area...things you would've never learned/heard about otherwise! The pictures are breathtaking, for sure...such a pretty area and the snow makes it all the more awesome. Can't wait to get up there for a visit!!
