Dry Falls is amazing... if it hadn't dried up, it would be 3 1/2 times the size of Niagara Falls. Words, and even pictures don't really do the vastness of it justice. But, we'll try anyway. :-)
The gratuitous "Rovey Was Here" shot in front of Steamboat Rock.
From the top...
It was too big to show a pic from the bottom, so here's a video...
Kiki and Debris, playing with the jackhammer exhibit they had--you could start them and feel 1/100th of the "jiggle" they gave the guys that actually used them. Debris thought it was pretty cool.
On the way to the dam, Debris had to pee REALLY bad. Finally we stopped and due to restroom closures, she had to pee outside. Usually she does a great job of this, but this time it ended with her underwear getting a little wet. She had a long skirt on, so I took them off, and strapped her into the car. "I can't go losting butt naked!!!" she howled, pretty much all the way to the dam. We worked very hard to convince her that it would be funny--no one would know she wasn't wearing underwear. She was not impressed. Anyway, after we toured the museum she started complaining about it again. We immediately interjected with, "Wasn't it funny that you toured that whole museum without panties on, and NOBODY knew???!!!!" She said, very firmly, "No, I fink it was weird! But I fink you guys are funny cause you fink it's so funny that I saw the dam butt naked!" Haha! Life is never boring with Debris.
On the way home we chased the sunset, that was kind of fun, because the sun was setting pretty much the whole way home.
We saw a little wildlife...
Outside of Douglas, WA, there is this old church/schoolhouse building... Beautiful.
And, finally descending into our beautiful town from Badger Mountain. What a fun day! Happy 30th Birthday Frank!
Dry falls is like the Grand Canyon of Washington! :) I have never heard of it and would love to visit some day. IN THE SUMMER when bathrooms are open. :) The bare bum story cracked me up, it would feel so weird to walk around without panties on under a skirt! A little drafty!
ReplyDeleteThe photo of the silhouette Church/schoolhouse is fantastic.
Gorgeous school in the sunset photo. All those places bring back SO many memories of childhood family camping trips. We used to go watch the light show at the dam, camp at Sun Lakes and day trip to the other lakes. We also have a family picture of all of us looking extremely awkward because it's the early 90s at the end of that fenced in look out point at dry falls. Haha. Thanks for posting all the pictures.
ReplyDeleteI like the photo with the pink "vortex" around the setting sun. My boys wear their underwear only to keep their pants up; the fabric gives their pants something to hold onto! Happy birthday, FC!
ReplyDeleteMy darling debri...life would be boring with out you! Happy birthday a day late frank...I forgot to text you but I did fink about you on your b-day, my vinegary bro in-law. Auntie G
